This is a place-holder for an article I want to post about how to compute your home’s heat loss rate. This is something you need to know to chose what size furnace to buy. I computed the heat loss of my home in two ways - by the amount of fuel I burned (both oil and wood), and by the size and insulation characteristics of my house. To my delight and amazement, the two approaches matched perfectly. Coming soon…

There used to be three ways to expand a wireless network to reach all corners of your house, but the FCC has disallowed one for home use, so now there are two:
1. Bigger antennaes.
2. Repeaters.
3. Power boosters (pulled from market)
The FCC asked Linksys to pull their power boosters from the market because when used in combination with bigger antennaes, they were too powerful - able to reach planes, etc.
The other two options are equivalent in price. I’m not sure which works better - probably each has different strengths. I’ll find out and post more. Or does someone else know?
